The Movies

One sunny Thursday Nia and I were at my aunty Heidi’s house my dad called and said “I’m coming to pick up Nia and Sabriye tomorrow, oh can we take Tayla because we are going to the movies.” My auntie said “Ok.”

Dad came on Friday and picked us up. Havana,Brylie,Porter and Waylon were already in the van patiently waiting to go to the movies.  .

We walked to the counter and my dad handed the tickets to the lady.  She said “Do your kids want a free toy each.”

Dad said “Ok.”

She handed the soft toys to us. When we walked past the popcorn, I smelt the delicious popcorn popping and I saw the popcorn popping. We walked through the door which said “number six.” The theatre was dark, there were lots of seats and people,  parents and their children were waiting for the movie to start.  

We were watching Ice Age 5. Havana, Nia, Porter, Brylie, dad, Waylon, Tayla  and I liked it but Waylon loved the movie some parts made him laugh . Sometimes Waylon was playing around with the soft toy then it was  finished. We waited  for Havana because she walked into a shop and Dad got hungry  and we had Dominoes for dinner. We drove home and went to bed.

Matariki

The Seven Sisters

Once, there were seven sisters in an ancient forest and the streams were playing.

One sunny Sunday, the seven mean sisters were at a village to tell fibs.They walked to their uncle Scot's place. The oldest sister said, "Look, there is an asteroid coming to earth." 
Uncle Scot said, "Where?" 
They all started laughing. All of them  said while they were laughing, "There is no asteroid."

The Tane God of light felt sorry for Scot and said to the seven girls, "If you tell lies in the village, then you will be dragged up to the sky and you will work for Uratengangana of stars."

The girls didn't listen to him.

On Monday morning, they ran to their uncle Dave's place and gave him a cake. He ate it. It wasn't chocolate cake; it was mud. The God of light got so angry, he lifted them into the sky and they turned into stars. 
In early June, there are the seven sisters in the sky and that's how Matariki began.

Lost in the Forest

Kimamita and Molly were sisters. They were 1 minute away from the forest and liked to explore in the weekends to see the kingfisher.

One sunny Sunday in summer, they decided to go for a when they made it to the forest they heard tui singing a tune in her nest keeping her eggs warm they heard a stream they walked down to the river they saw a tui they tried to catch it. They could't find it but they got lost it was unfamiliar suddenly they a noisy it said"Kimamita  Molly where are you?" The mum and dad ran to the forest "Kimamita  Molly where are you?" The perants found them they said"let have soup and hot chocolate."

Tom's Snake

WALT make up a story about a Pet Day problem.

WWBSWW:

• Begin with an orientation to tell the reader who, did what, where and when.

“Pet Day will be on Friday,” Miss Anderson, Tom’s teacher, announced to the class on Monday. “Bring your pet to school and tell us about it, then we will have a pet parade.”

Tom was so excited. He would be able to bring Harry to school to 

show everyone.

• Write the events leading up to the problem.

At the end of the day, he ran all the way home to get his pet ready for Friday.

He loved Harry and had wanted to show his friends for a long time, but his mum and dad had told him that Harry must never leave the house; but, now, his

teacher had given him permission to bring it to school.

Smilingly, he polished Harry’s green silky skin, talking to it with his friendly voice. “You’re allowed to come to school, Harry. You can meet my friends and my friends can meet you.”

As soon as Friday came around, Harry carefully took Harry out of its cage and placed him into his black backpack. He couldn’t wait to get to school, so he ran

all the way.

When the bell rang, he and the rest of the class stepped into the 

classroom.

• Write the problem.

Tom opened his backpack to show his friends what he had brought to school for Pet Day.

“It’s a green, slippery, slimey …...................” he said slowly. “Snake!” he 

shouted.

“Tom Denver, give me that thing right now!” Miss Anderson 

commanded.

Tom opened his hand to pass it over, but, at that moment, naughty Billy Burton lunged to grab it himself. He bumped Tom’s shoulder and Tom hurtled forward, the snake flying out of his hand to the back of the classroom.

“Eeeeeee! Where is it?” squealed Miss Anderson.

Chaos threatened in Room 4.  Children jumped up and ran around, screeching

their lungs out and pushing over chairs and desks, trying to find Tom’s snake.

• Write the events to tell your readers how the problem was solved. 

They were feeling frightened. 
Tom had an idea. He gathered some things from the class -scissors, cord to tie, glue, paper and the teacher's lunch. Tom glued the sheet of paper together. He put the ham sandwich in the middle. 
All the kids leapt on the their desks so the snake couldn't bite their toes off. They kept quiet and still. 
The snake slowly wriggled towards the ham sandwich. As he took a bite, Tom soundlessly approached Harry and picked it up gently to put into his backpack. 
"Never bring  a snake to school again," said Miss Anderson.
Well done, Sabriye.

Hi my name is Sabriye we were following you to Mount Everest, we seen new things at Nepal thank you for the photos. I liked the yaks, the markets and the wild flowers. I might go there some day.

The Magic Show

All St Paul's students walked into the hall. There was a man in front of the stage. He said, "Hello, St Paul's. My name is Jonathon. This is Carel."Who is he? 
He started the showWhat show? He got a pump to blow a balloon up and tied it up, but he didn't tie it well and it ........ 
He blew another one up. He tied it. He said to Riley, "What's your name?" 
She answered back, "Riley."

The Birthday of the Church

The Church is people spreading the Good News about Jesus.

Before Pentecost, the followers of Jesus were hiding in their house because they were scared that they might get arrested by the soldiers like Jesus, but they saw fire on each other's heads and heard wind in the air.

The Holy Spirit had come to them to help them spread the Good News about Jesus.

This day is called Pentecost. It was the birthday of the Church.

Shopping

On Saturday morning, I had a bad cough. It really hurt.
I said to Mum, "Mum, can we go to New World and get some medicine?"
Mum said, "Ok, we can go now."
Mum and I were in the shiny golden van. Mum was driving  to New World. '
When we walked into the entrance, we were looking for the medicine and we needed to find some food for school. We found the medicine and paid for it and the food we drove home.
My mum is the nicest mum of all by taking me to New World and giving me some medicine.

The Sumatran Tiger.

The Sumatran Tiger was running up and down, chasing me, and, when it jumped on the glass, I was scared.

My class went to the zoo because we had filled the marble jar up.

When Bianca, Caleb, Brylie, Waylon, Mum, Grayson and I walked to the tiger, I liked the tigers. We got the best spot to see them. The Sumatran tiger swam in the water and it jumped on the glass. Waylon screamed and laughed. Mum took a video and a photo. The tiger was sneaky. It had black stripes, white dots on the ear and orange beside the black stripes. It got out of the water and ran away to our best spot.

He liked walking on the beach. He liked whittling his slingshot.
He hated school.
One day,
- didn't go to school
- went to the beach
- pirates came
- stole him and the other girls and boys
- sold him in Ireland to Milchu
- was a shepherd - looked after sheep and pigs (swine)
- started talked to God - trusted God and was happy
- One night, heard God talking to him - told him to go the a ship
- when he was on board, - big storm - ship grounded in France
- crew starving
- Patrick asked God for help
- God sent him pigs and an apple tree- ate pork dinner and apple sauce

There was a boy called Patrick he was born somewhere in Britain he went to school after school. His mother called out"Patrick are you doing you're homework." He said "yes mum I'm nearly finish." When he was whittling his slingshot.One day he didn't go to school he just went to the beach suddenly he froze he saw a black ship the the crew swung on the rope one of the crew got Patrick and the other boys and girls they got kidnapped they all sailed to Ireland  the young girls and boys they sold them to a man called Milchu. Patrick was looking sheep and swine (means pigs)he is a shepherd he keeps the fire night and day so the wolves can't eat the sheep. One night he herd a voice was God he said "Patrick you can go back home if you fast and pray." Patrick fast and pray he trusted God one night he said "Patrick go to the ship." Patrick go to his ship it was leaving but a crew throw a out a rope the crew were glad but there was a storm they touched the ground they are in France one of the crew was strarving they were looking for food and one of the crew said "well done christian." Patrick knelt down and "Please, Lord send us some food." Patrick herd some wild pigs went he in the went in the woods and found some red apples so they had pork and apple sauce for dinner ti was time Patrick to go home, so they wave goodbye.
                                                     

World of Maths

Thump! Thump! Thump! We all walked into the grand hall. We saw the long white table like snow drifting  down from the ceilings. A lady, standing at the front, said, " Hello, everyone. My name is Kath." We all said, "Hi, Kath."  

The Rocket

"Fall fall fall!" everyone was shouting at me. I didn't like it, but I ignored it. I leaped in the distance next, it began to get slippery. I was balancing, then I just fell but I went again. On my second round, I nearly finished at the end of the rocket, but I fell down again. Next, on  my third round, I was halfway when I fell down.

Next, it was time to get out of the pool. There were prizes - two swimming bags. The winners were Ella and Brylie. We all clapped.

Splash! Splash! We all hopped in the warm pool. We all put our heads in the water; it was a little bit warm. The pool looked like diamonds on the end of the pool. Ashley said, "Do rocket arms," so we did. We had numbers; first, there was one, two, three and four. I was four. Ashley said, "Four," so I did it, but sometimes I ran out of breath. I made it. When we were at the end, we did it again.
